Swedish Linens | About us
Everyday Essentials, Made to Matter.
A well-made bed is more than a place to sleep. It’s where mornings begin, where evenings exhale. It’s where babies dream, children grow, guests feel at home, and tired minds find quiet.
At Swedish Linens, we believe sleep isn’t a luxury—it’s a foundation. We make bedding not just to be seen, but to be felt—to bring ease, breathability, and beauty to everyday life.
In the blur of modern life, a good night’s sleep is one of the most grounding gifts we can offer our families—and ourselves.
Born from Sleepless Nights, Made for Peaceful Ones.
The idea for Swedish Linens was born in the quiet hours of early parenthood—the kind filled with half-sipped coffee, soft lullabies, and the deep, aching hope that tonight might bring just a little more sleep.
Hannah Johnsén, a textile designer and mother of two, found herself caught in the endless loop of broken sleep and blurry days. But somewhere in that haze came a quiet realization: what if better sleep wasn’t just about routines or white noise machines—what if it started with something simpler, something more basic?
So she began to strip things back. No gadgets, no gimmicks—just the sleep environment itself. She looked at the textures her children were sleeping on, the breathability of the fabrics, the feel of the sheets against their skin. She asked herself if creating a softer, simpler sleep space could be the key to finally getting some sleep.
Naturally, she turned to the one thing she knew best: textiles. But in her search for crib sheets that were soft, breathable, beautiful—and made to last—she kept running into the same problem. The few ones with charming prints were average in quality. The ones made with higher quality came in plain, uninspired designs. Nothing felt quite right. Nothing ticked all the boxes.
So, she made her own.
The result was a collection of crib sheets made in organic cotton percale: cool, crisp, and quietly luxurious. A fabric that feels like fresh air and clean simplicity, night after night.
She then took it a step further, questioning the traditional approach to making the bed: the printed duvet cover and pillowcases, layered over a plain, often forgotten sheet. What if it could be the other way around? What if the sheet itself could take center stage—inviting people to unmake the bed, revealing its beauty, and letting the bed breathe? This simple shift could air out the fabric and create a more inviting sleep environment, improving sleep by allowing the sheets to stay fresh and cool, just like the air itself.
Today, Swedish Linens offers bedding for every bed in the house: crib sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases, and fitted sheets in both classic solids and timeless patterned prints. Designed with intention. Made to last. Rooted in the belief that a well-made bed can bring a little more peace into daily life—for children, for parents, for anyone in search of a gentler rhythm.
At Swedish Linens, we believe design should be rooted in values. That’s why every piece is 100% organic, GOTS and OEKO-TEX® certified, and crafted in Guimarães—the heart of Portugal’s textile industry.
